What's a Sony WH-1000XM5 Headphones really worth?
Flagship noise-cancelling cans with a fast, honest secondhand market.
Sony's XM-series headphones depreciate on a famously predictable curve: each new generation knocks the previous one down a tier, and the used market instantly reprices. That makes the XM5 one of the easiest items to buy or sell with confidence — the comps are everywhere and they're consistent.
Because the XM5's design dropped the folding hinges of earlier models, condition issues concentrate in the headband and earpads — both visible in photos, both cheap to replace, and both reliable negotiating points in either direction.
